Starting with VBE 3.0
, VBE functions can also be called directly from protected mode via the protected mode entry point. When called via the protected mode entry point, the VBE functions execute as 16-bit protected mode code.

- 해석
VBE 3.0 으로 시작 할 때 VBE 함수들은 또한 protected mode entry point 를 통해서 protected mode 로 부터 직접적으로 호출 될수 있다. VBE 함수가 protected mode entry point를 통해서 호출 될 때는, VBE 함수들은 16-bit protected mode code 로서 수행된다.

- 설명
여기서 문장 앞에 -ing 로 시작되는 것은 문법적으로 접속사와 주어가 생략되었을 때 와 동시동작인 경우를 볼수 있습니다. 즉, 그 다음에 올 절/문장의 주어와 의미가 같을 때 생략 가능 합니다.
접속사 + -ed 로 시작한 다는 것은 그 다음에 올 절/문장과 주어가 같아서 굳이 언급할 필요가 없을 때 be동사와 함께 사라집니다.

Day 22 Monday

underneath ( prep ) - If one thing is underneath another, it is directly under it, and may be covered or hidden by it.
               ex ) The device exploded underneath a van.
                      Her apartment was underneath a bar, called `The Lift'.

label ( v ) - If you say that someone or something is labelled as a particular thing, you mean that people generally describe them that way and you think that this is unfair. ~라는 명칭을 붙이다. ~라는 딱지를 붙이다.
              ex ) Too often the press are labelled as bad boys...
                     Certain estates are labelled as undesirable...

inability ( n ) - If you refer to someone's inability to do something, you are referring to the fact that they are unable to do it.
              ex ) Her inability to concentrate could cause an accident.

A particular perspective is a particular way of thinking about something, especially one that is influenced by your beliefs or experiences. 전망

breakthrough( n, C ) - an important development or achievement
큰 발전, 약진, 난관의 돌파(구), 타개(책)
ex ) The company looks posied to make a significant ~ in China.
poised ( a ) - If a part of your body is poised, it is completely still but ready to move at any moment. ex ) He studied the keyboard carefully, one finger poised.
If sbd is poised to do sth, they are ready to take action at any moment.

Begining to ask questions about life is a sign ~~ 인생에 대해 질문하기 시작하는 것은 사인이다.

as it has always been. 그것이 항상 있었 던 것 처럼....

Sbd's ~ is their health and happiness 복지( =welfare ), 행복, 건강.

relief ( n, U ) - If you feel a sense of ~, you feel happy because sth unpleasant has not happended or is no longer happening. / ~ is money, food, or clothing that is provided for people who are very poor, or who have been affected by war or a natural disaster.

eradicate ( v  ) - To ~ sth means to get rid of it completely. 뿌리째 뽑다, 근절하다, 박멸하다. = eliminate 제거하다, 없애다. [생리]~을 배출[배설]하다. [수학]소거하다.
          ex ) ~ waste matter from the system. 노폐물을 몸에서 배설하다.
                the system / one's system : 신체, 전신. the system : 세계, 우주

worthwhile ( a ) - If something is worthwhile, it is enjoyable or useful, and worth the time, money, or effort that is spent on it.

fiance ( n ) - the man that a woman is engaged to
fiancee ( n ) - the woman that a man is engaged to

approve( v ) <-> disapprove - to offcially agree to a plan, proposal, respect 승인하다.
                            to think that sb/sth is good, acceptable, suitable 찬성하다.

neglect ( v ) - If you ~ someone or something, you fail to look fater them properly 방치하다, 소홀히
                            ex ) The woman denied that she had neglected her child.                         하다

                         If you ~someone or something, you fail to give them the amount of attention that
                         they deserve. 무시하다.
                            ex ) If you are not careful, children tend to neglect their homework.
       fail to do : ~을 (하지) 못하다. ~하기를 게을리하다[잊다] = neglect

consequence ( n ) -
The ~ of something are the results or effects of it.
        ex ) Her lawyer said she understood the ~s of her actions and was prepared to go to jail.
    as a ~ ( of ), in ~ ( of ) - the second thing happens as a result of the first. ~의 결과, ~ 때문에
           ex ) His death was totally unexpected and, in consequence, no plans had been made for his
                  replacement
                  200 people lost their job as a direct consequence of the merger.
    
    take the consequence or face the consequence - you warn them that something 
                               unpleasant will happen to them if they do not stop behaving in a particular way.
                                ( 자기 행동의 ) 결과를 감수하다[책임지다]
         ex ) These pilots must now face the consequences of their actions and be brought to trial.

    The consequence is that ~ : 그 결과는[결론은] ~ 이다.

obedience ( n ) - ex ) unquestionging obedience of the law.
   obedient ( a ) - A person or animal who is obedient does what they are told to do...
             ex ) he was very respectful(예의바른, 정중한.) at home and obedient to his parents.

deceive ( v ) = fool ( v )- If you ~ someone, you make them believe something that is not true,
               usually in order to get some advantage for yourself.
      ex ) somebody / something ~ me...

     squint at sth - you look at it with your eyes partly closed. 눈을 가늘게 뜨고 보다.

I became conscious of this - 나는 그 사실을 실감 하게 되었다.

more and more often. 점점 자주.

cold sweat was soaking my forehead. 이마에 식은 땀이 줄줄 흐르다.
    soak - If a liquid soaks something or if you soak something with a liquid, the liquid makes the
              thing very wet.
                 ex ) The water had soaked his jacket and shirt...
                 ex ) Soak the soil around each bush with at least 4 gallons of water.

              If a liquid soaks through something, it passes through it.
                 ex ) There was so much blood it had soaked through my boxer shorts...

regular coughing fits - 정기적인 기침 발작 or 경련.

?? In the morning I would have barely an hour before the shop opened in which to do the previous day's accounts. 에서 in which 가 쓰이는 이유? which와 차이점.. 그리고 which 다음에 to가 오는 이유?

I was conscience-stricken. 양심의 가책을 받다.
   stricken - is the past participle of some meanings of strike. 짓눌린, 고통받는, 비탄에 잠긴.
      ex ) terror-stricken 공포에 휩싸인 / 사로잡힌

resolve - To resolve a problem, argument, or difficulty means to find a solution to it. (FORMAL)
                  ex ) We must find a way to resolve these problems before it's too late...

              If you resolve to do something, you make a firm decision to do it. (FORMAL)
                  ex ) She resolved to report the matter to the hospital's nursing manager...

relief - If something provides relief from pain or distress, it stops the pain or distress.
          If you feel a sense of relief, you feel happy because something unpleasant has not   
          happened or is no longer happening.
            ex ) I breathed a sigh of relief...

The opposite is the case! - 실은 그 반대라는 것을!

lit - is a past tense and past participle of light.
