User Identification confirmation

whoami - to confirm login account

su - It means 'substitue user'. It's used to change another user ID, not to login,to use another new shell. Commonly it's used to change root account for a moment to do management work. then return to the previous login account.

passwd <ID>- used to change password.

File, Directory
ls [directory] [option]- Show Files and directories list.
  -l : Show specific info of files.
  -a : Show all files,regardless of the type of files.

mv <original filename> <new filename>: move or rename files.

chmod( permission ) <permission option> <objective file>
 
d rwx rwx rwx : The first character is either directory or file. 'd' means directory, '-'
                           means file. The first "rwx" is the authority of an owner. The second one 
                           is the authority of a group. The final one is the authority of other users.
   To give an authority 
      1) rwx(421) add the number. - give owner, all groups, all users an authority.
              read + write + execution 7, read + write 6,
              read + execution 5,  read 4, write + execution 3, write 2, execution 1
      2) a( all ), u( user ), g( groups ), o( other ) / r( read ), w( write ), x( execution )
          + ( add permission ), - ( remove permission )
        ex ) chmod 777 redhat -> Give all owners, groups, users all authorities.
               chmod u+x redhat -> Give owner execution autority.

ln -s <object of link> <filename of link> : object can be file or directory.
  ex ) ln -s a b : Make b link to point at a file or directory.
         cd b : Enter a which a point at

Changing the workspace of Eclipse

Go to -> "D:\Program Files\All-In-One-Eclipse\eclipse\configuration\.settings" folder.

then Edit this file -> "org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs"

fiance ( n ) - the man that a woman is engaged to
fiancee ( n ) - the woman that a man is engaged to

approve( v ) <-> disapprove - to offcially agree to a plan, proposal, respect 승인하다.
                            to think that sb/sth is good, acceptable, suitable 찬성하다.

neglect ( v ) - If you ~ someone or something, you fail to look fater them properly 방치하다, 소홀히
                            ex ) The woman denied that she had neglected her child.                         하다

                         If you ~someone or something, you fail to give them the amount of attention that
                         they deserve. 무시하다.
                            ex ) If you are not careful, children tend to neglect their homework.
       fail to do : ~을 (하지) 못하다. ~하기를 게을리하다[잊다] = neglect

consequence ( n ) -
The ~ of something are the results or effects of it.
        ex ) Her lawyer said she understood the ~s of her actions and was prepared to go to jail.
    as a ~ ( of ), in ~ ( of ) - the second thing happens as a result of the first. ~의 결과, ~ 때문에
           ex ) His death was totally unexpected and, in consequence, no plans had been made for his
                  replacement
                  200 people lost their job as a direct consequence of the merger.
    
    take the consequence or face the consequence - you warn them that something 
                               unpleasant will happen to them if they do not stop behaving in a particular way.
                                ( 자기 행동의 ) 결과를 감수하다[책임지다]
         ex ) These pilots must now face the consequences of their actions and be brought to trial.

    The consequence is that ~ : 그 결과는[결론은] ~ 이다.

obedience ( n ) - ex ) unquestionging obedience of the law.
   obedient ( a ) - A person or animal who is obedient does what they are told to do...
             ex ) he was very respectful(예의바른, 정중한.) at home and obedient to his parents.

deceive ( v ) = fool ( v )- If you ~ someone, you make them believe something that is not true,
               usually in order to get some advantage for yourself.
      ex ) somebody / something ~ me...

(a) Slap someone in the face ( v ) 모욕하다. 거절하다. / ( n ) 모욕, 창피, 거절

swing the (baseball) club. 야구 방망이를 휘두르다.

He has a squint. 그는 사시 이다. = He is a squinter.
     squint at sth - you look at it with your eyes partly closed. 눈을 가늘게 뜨고 보다.

I became conscious of this - 나는 그 사실을 실감 하게 되었다.

cold sweat was soaking my forehead. 이마에 식은 땀이 줄줄 흐르다.
    soak - If a liquid soaks something or if you soak something with a liquid, the liquid makes the
              thing very wet.
                 ex ) The water had soaked his jacket and shirt...
                 ex ) Soak the soil around each bush with at least 4 gallons of water.

              If a liquid soaks through something, it passes through it.
                 ex ) There was so much blood it had soaked through my boxer shorts...

regular coughing fits - 정기적인 기침 발작 or 경련.

?? In the morning I would have barely an hour before the shop opened in which to do the previous day's accounts. 에서 in which 가 쓰이는 이유? which와 차이점.. 그리고 which 다음에 to가 오는 이유?

I was conscience-stricken. 양심의 가책을 받다.
   stricken - is the past participle of some meanings of strike. 짓눌린, 고통받는, 비탄에 잠긴.
      ex ) terror-stricken 공포에 휩싸인 / 사로잡힌

resolve - To resolve a problem, argument, or difficulty means to find a solution to it. (FORMAL)
                  ex ) We must find a way to resolve these problems before it's too late...

              If you resolve to do something, you make a firm decision to do it. (FORMAL)
                  ex ) She resolved to report the matter to the hospital's nursing manager...

relief - If something provides relief from pain or distress, it stops the pain or distress.
          If you feel a sense of relief, you feel happy because something unpleasant has not   
          happened or is no longer happening.
            ex ) I breathed a sigh of relief...

The opposite is the case! - 실은 그 반대라는 것을!

lit - is a past tense and past participle of light.

ownership = Ownership of something is the state of owning it.


sufficient <-> insufficient
 If something is sufficient for a particular purpose, there is enough of it for the purpose.


map 일치시키다.

invaluable

pass off an exception

 If an event passes off without any trouble, it happens and ends without any trouble.
     The main demonstration passed off peacefully.

Sovereign - Subject
    sovereign is a king, queen, or other royal ruler of a country.
           ex) In March 1889, she became the first British sovereign to set foot on Spanish soil.

     subject
        An artist's subjects are the people, animals, or objects that he or she paints, models, or  
        photographs.
             ex ) Her favourite subjects are shells spotted on beach walks.
 
        In an experiment or piece of research, the subject is the person or animal that is being tested
        or studied. (FORMAL)
              ex ) `White noise' was played into the subject's ears through headphones...

        If someone is subject to a particular set of rules or laws, they have to obey those rules or 
        laws.
      

phenomenon( n, C )
- something that is observed to happen or exist. 현상

cosmology( n, U ) - is a theory about the origin and nature of the universe.
                     ex ) the ideas implicit in Big Bang cosmology.

implicit( a ) <-> explicit  - Something that is implicit is expressed in an indirect way. 
                                    은연중의, 암시적인
                 ex ) This is seen as an implicit warning not to continue with military action...

             - If a quality or element is implicit in something, it is involved in it or is shown by it.내재하는
                        ex ) ...the delays implicit in formal council meetings...

nomad ( n, C ) - A nomad is a member of a group of people who travel from place to place rather
                            than living in one place all the time.
                            ex ) a country of nomads who raise cattle and camels.

the primitive age / times - belonging to a society in which people live in a very simple way,
                                            usually without industries or a writing system. 원시 시대

pupil( n, C ) - 1. The pupils of a school are the children who go to it.
          2. A pupil of a painter, musician, or other expert is someone who studies under that expert
              and learns his or her skills.
          3. The pupils of your eyes are the small, round, black holes in the centre of them.

filial ( a ) - to describe the duties, feelings, or relationships which exist between a son or daughter and his or her parents. (FORMAL) 자식으로서의

Piety( n, U ) -
is strong religious belief, or behaviour that is religious or morally correct.

filial piety - 자식으로서의 의무, 도리, 행동

 To stick to

1. If you stick to a promise, agreement, decision, or principle, you do what you said you would do, or do not change your mind.
    ex ) Immigrant support groups are waiting to see if he sticks to his word...
           But one problem is that few people can stick to a diet for long.
           diet : the type and range of food that you regularly eat.
                    It's never too late to improve your diet.
                    ...a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables...

2. If you stick to something, you continue doing, using saying or talking about it, rather than changing to something else.
   rather than - You use rather than when you are contrasting two things or
              situations.
         ex ) The problem was psychological rather than physiological...

       Rather than introduces the thing or situation that is not true or that you do not want.
         ex ) When I'm going out in the evening I use the bike if I can rather than the car.

3. If you stick to something or someone when you are travelling, you stay close to them.
      ex) There are interesting hikes inland, but most ramblers stick to the clifftops...

To stick to your guns - you continue to have your own opinion about something even though other people are trying to tell you that you are wrong.
  ex) You should have stuck to his guns and refused to meet her.
